It was wonderful to see all year groups of children participating so well, engaged & respectful, in the special assemblies for Remembrance Day. Everything that had been planned was pitched at exactly the right level & for the right duration to enable the children to be attentive & sit still.
Mrs Ali and Miss Nawaz hosted a touching and thoughtful age appropriate event for Yr R & KS1 and Yr R had added to the decorative element in school by making their special soldier hats and decorating their outdoor area. The little ones also really appreciated the visiting Standard Bearers from the Royal British Legion Veterans visiting their classrooms too, along with our own dedicated RBL Standard Bearer Miss Brazier.
Miss Brazier & Miss Paulding organised and led the event for KS2 brilliantly. Miss Brazier in full RBL uniform, formed part of the parade of Standards and Miss Paulding played the Last Post by trumpet in the assembly and for our 2 minutes silence at 11.00am. The visitors loved coming to our school and particularly mentioned the positive behaviour of our children in comparison to some other events they have attended. They really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to the selected Year 6 children after the assembly about personal experiences based on the children’s questions which they raised as a result of their recent learning on this theme. They all said they hoped to return next year. Many of them would have been happy to relax & enjoy our company all day if they could have fitted that in to their busy lives at this time of year – tea and biscuits alongside our interested & polite children was described as an ideal day by one of them!
A huge well done and thank you to all.
